Funny story about this, I was 14 years old and I was in the backseat with my first girlfriend, and her mother turned on the radio and this song came on amidst silence.
It was great.

Oldneptune, what exactly is so embarrassing about the introduction? Is it that they don't represent pot culture in the best light? Or is it pot culture in general that you find embarrassing.
Well, as an ex-smoker and denizen of the pot world, I would agree that pious pot smokers, the apostles for pot, are over the top.
As for the rap(old meaning of the word) that opens this song, it's rather a fun, jovial reminisence.

Lawrence Welk was not completely off the target. The song, the original recording at least, really does have a gospel feel.
And the duo singing on the original is so sweet.
