Believe what you want, but calling me names doesn't support your argument or weaken mine. None of our rights can be suspended. Our rights came from God, not the gov't or the Constitution. Who did we grant the power to take what we are born with? Laws have been passed allowing our right be violated, but they conflict with the Constitution which is fundamental to all other laws and are illegal. We must defend our rights always. Believing our rights are lost will prevent attempting to do so.

Do some research before you bag on the habeas corpus restoration act, douschebag. The purpose of the act is to RESTORE the right of habeas corpus to those detained under MCA 2006. This act guarantees rights for detainees that were already found to be valid under the supreme court's Hamdan v. Rumsfeld decision. david, you are the lying idiot here, not Dodd

Okay. I thought so. They must not have felt there was a threat by how they treated the borders. yes I'm joking, we haven't had a single attack here since 9-11, So either our government has done a perfect job or there are no real terror cells in the US, yet we give up are rights thinking we'll get them back later. once there gone only the spilling of blood will get them back

Chris Dodd is full of shit! Our rights can not be taken or lost - only violated. Claims that any part of the Constitution can be lost, undermined, weakened, or changed in any way without an Amendment being passed by Congress is a lie. They want us to think we have lost our rights, so we won't defend them. It is a trick. Laws conflicting with the Constitution are illegal and void. He is lying if he knows this and an idiot if he doesn't. This man is a waste of skin.

The U.S. government was not granted power to suspend the Great Writ and can't. They are lying. Article 1, Section 9, Clause 2 - "The Privilege of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it." Article 10 - "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
