In my personal opinion the verve pipe should have been a more popular band but I think they were just out at a bad time. The verve pipe are still a good band, especially live. If they happen to go by your town check them out.

Best VP song BY FAR!...and better than most of the junk that's come out in the dozen years since...
My second favorite would have to be "Hero" from their nearly forgotten self-titled follow-up. Should have been a HUGE hit, but unfortunately came along a year or two too late; by '99, the alternative rock heyday of the mid-90's had all but dried up, eclipsed by the dark shadow that would prove to be the harbinger of music's doom: the dreaded Boy Band..TRL was the beginning of the end, my friends!

i guarantee Oasis will be. They are still massive worldwide. Look at the number of younger bands that credit them as their main musical influence. Not to mention they have sold 60 million albums worldwide, more than Pearl Jam and Nirvana. |
