I think America's detractors need a Political science 101 class. Without ONE common power (right now the U.S.) overarching the rest of the world, there is chaos. It is a GOOD THING that the U.S. has world hegemony. Can anyone Imagine what the world would be like if Islamofascists were the world's premier military force? God help us all.

The US is *definately* imperialistic.
Just so you know, they teach that to my friends studying world politics and in another cultural studies course at university. Being social sciences, it is pretty safe to say that the US is a modern imperialistic empire.
